Episode 181 Is there new hope for liberty in ‘the land of the free?’

Summary:

One could not be blamed for pessimism about America’s future after the public’s complete acquiescence to the atrocities committed by their governments in 2020. But do Trump’s victory and the public’s wholesale rejection of the legacy media represent new hope for liberty?

Episode 180 What Mika and Joe Don’t Realize They Said About Their Trump Meeting

Summary:

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s Morning Joe made a trip to Mar a Lago to meet with President-elect Trump. Takes are numerous, with liberals decrying their betrayal while conservatives either celebrate their surrender or call them out as self-serving hypocrites. But their account of the meeting, and in particular one thing Mika said in recounting it, belies an established imperial talking point.

Episode 179 Trump Lawuits Will Give New Life to Defeated Legacy Media

Summary:

Trump’s victory in the presidential election was as much a rejection of the legacy media as the Biden administration’s policies. But Trump’s lawsuits could give them new life by allowing them to make a superficially plausible argument he is suppressing freedom of the press.

Episode 178 Neocons in the Trump Administration 2 The Sequel

Summary:

In 2016, Trump ran on an America First foreign policy and promised to keep the U.S. out of unnecessary wars. But he filled his administration with neoconservatives who didn’t agree with his foreign policy agenda and undermined it time and again.

Surely, he wouldn’t make the same mistake in his second term, would he?

Episode 177 Are American students being misled about the JFK assassination? with Paul Bleau

Summary:

Americans are increasingly concerned about the history being taught to students in our schools and universities. From the Pilgrims through the so-called “Progressive Era,” the school system teaches our students a skewed version of history where freedom is always the problem and government intervention the solution.

It should come as no surprise that when it comes to the Kennedy assassination, history textbooks uncritically promote the Warren Commission’s findings that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone – a conclusion of which most Americans are at the very least highly suspicious.

Author and entrepreneur Paul Bleau joins Tom to discuss his new book that he says proves conclusively that Oswald would have been acquitted at trial, meaning the official story is completely wrong.

Episode 176 Do Trump and MAGA Represent a Return of the Old Right?

Summary:

Since the end of WWII, the conservative movement has been dominated by foreign policy hawks, initially anti-communist and later neoconservative (“neocon”). But there was a completely different conservative movement that existed during the first half of the 20th century retrospectively known as “The Old Right.” Do Trump and the broader MAGA movement represent a return of this brand of conservatism?

After enduring a four-year assault on his presidency including a two-year investigation into spurious accusations of “colluding with Russia” and two impeachements, followed by four more years of politically motivated prosecutions and two assassination attempts, he is returning to the White House as the 47th president of the United States. Tom gives his initial reaction to this astonishing election.

Episode 173 The Libertarian Case for Chase Oliver

Summary:

In 2022, the Libertarian Party was taken over by the Mises Caucus, promising to bring “the Ron Paul version” of libertarianism to the party. With its members occupying virtually positions within the party, including the Chair, it expected its preferred candidate Michael Rectenwald to win the nomination for president. However, non-Mises Caucus member Chase Oliver emerged victorious from the convention.

This was seen as a regression back to everything wrong with the party prior to 2022 and many prominent Libertarians have refused to support Oliver. But how far does he really stray from libertarian principles? Is there a libertarian case for Chase?

Whether libertarians like it or not, either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris will be President of the United States in late January 2025.
